Is this course for me?
The Drama Queens Burlesque courses and workshops are perfect for absolute beginners who want to start their burlesque career with a strong grounding in performance but it is also suitable for performers at the early stages of their creative life who want to expand their skills and become stronger, more distinctive performers.
Learners who want to explore character based, narrative or comedic burlesque will find this course particularly useful but the lesson content will also benefit performers who wish to work in more classic styles.

What makes Drama Queens Burlesque Different?
A lot of burlesque classes teach dance routines with striptease elements to groups of learners. Often these classes are just for fun, for hen parties or birthdays or to promote empowerment or body confidence. While we at Drama Queens Burlesque think these are all great reasons to enjoy burlesque, we wanted to make a class that was tailor made for people who want to get up on stage and perform burlesque. Our burlesque lessons focus on the creative and performance process, looking at characterisation, creating a narrative, generating original ideas and cultivating a relationship with your audience.
We are not a dance class but if you want to include dance (or any other skill set) in your work we can support you. In our burlesque lessons we focus on bringing out your personal strengths as a unique, individual performer. We want all of our students to leave the six week course with a stronger idea of who they are as a performer and the sort of acts they want to produce.
